Love Your Food!

Get Naked!

raw cacaoThis Valentine’s day strip down! Go au naturel. Forget all the junk and choose only the best for yourself and those you love. Here are some foods and products that will nourish you – mind, body and soul.

Cooking your loved one a fancy meal? Ditch the hormone disrupting compounds and opt for organic meat and produce. Add a little chili to your meal to release endorphins and promote circulation.

Snack on pumpkin seeds. They are high in zinc. Zinc increases libido in women and is incredibly important for male sexual health (increasing sperm production, count and motility and decreasing prostate disease).

Use coconut oil as a massage oil and personal lubricant. Opt for paraben free condoms.  For more eco and body friendly products check out https://www.ecosex.ca/

Instead of commercial chocolate bars try raw cacao.  Make a rich chocolate drink , add cacao to your breakfast smoothie or make a silky smooth chocolate mousse. Cacao is rich in “love chemicals” phenylethylamine and anandamine, feel good tryptophan (precursor to serotonin) and magnesium which supports the adrenal glands, central nervous system and relaxes muscles. Cacao is also an excellent source of heart protective antioxidants.

Bare all in a hot bath with Epsom salts. Magnesium will relax your muscles and calm your central nervous system. Stay clear of the chemicals in bubble bath and try a few drops of rose or lavender oil instead.

Stay away from toxic perfumes that contain phthalates and other gross chemicals that can disrupt hormone balance, cause allergies, and stimulate cancer growth. Opt instead for an essential oil diluted in a carrier such as almond oil or try a company such as Living Libations.

And one last thing…don’t forget the power of a hug! A 20 second hug can increase oxytocin, decreasing blood pressure, heart rate and cortisol levels.
